Communication

Portrait of a Graduate: Recognizing Students Who Exemplify Communication!
This month, we celebrate Desert Edge’s very own Camila.
Camila goes out of her way to make sure she communicates with me on a daily basis. She is always checking in with me to give me updates on her status when it comes to the work she is assigned for the yearbook. This is a vital skill to have in publications as communication is key to the success of the yearbook. When she needs to reschedule an interview or photos, she always communicates it with me in a professional and timely manner. She communicates with her classmates to make sure the jobs they are doing are being completed and asks for the things she needs (photos, quotes, design, etc) in order to get the job done.

Critical Thinking

Portrait of a Graduate: Recognizing Students Who Exemplify Critical Thinking!
This month, we celebrate Desert Edge’s very own John K.
I am nominating John for this award because he has excelled in Software and App Design 1 and takes on added work in the area of AI development in the Coding in Color RTI program. He is always using his critical thinking skills to solve various problems that arise when completing coding work in and out of class.

Integrity

Portrait of a Graduate: Recognizing Students Who Exemplify Integrity!
This month, we celebrate Desert Edge’s very own Lamont F.
Lamont is a member of the Scorpion Varsity Football team. On the evening of 9/5, the Scorpions had a game about 3 hours away, south of Tucson. He did not make it home until after 2:00 a.m. The next day, Senior choir members were scheduled to attend an event, the ASU Vocal Connection, at ASU in Tempe. Although he missed the bus we took, he had his parent drive him to the event, and he made it in time for the opening remarks at 9:00 a.m. He had every reason to NOT attend; however, he had made this event a priority and didn't let the obstacles he faced throw him off course. He was able to participate in workshops, sing, and attend a performance by the ASU Concert Choir.
