FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

  1. Create FSA IDs for both student and parent. [How-to video]

  2. Gather necessary info and go to www.fafsa.gov to apply.

  3. FAFSA determines eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid (grants, loans, work-study).

  4. Apply early and check deadlines for each school. FAFSA opens October 1st.

  5. You’ll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in 7 - 12 business days. Make corrections if needed.

  6. Some schools may request verification—submit forms quickly.

  7. Accepted students will get Award Letters outlining their financial aid package (grants, scholarships, work-study, loans).

  8. For more scholarships, use free search tools—never pay.
